Latest Updates from Our Project:

The Final Week Starts Now!
10 months ago โ€“ Thu, Dec 21, 2023 at 10:24:23 AM

Today marks the start of the last 7 days of the Kickstarter! While we are still about 15% away from reaching our funding goal, I am very confident that this final week will be a strong one for us! For those that have clicked the "Remind Me to Pledge Later" button, Kickstarter will send out an email during the last 48 hours of the campaign to you with a reminder that the campaign is ending soon, and then a second email will be sent out during the last 8 hours as well, so look out for those as well! We are SO close! Just a little nudge and we will be there! We are extremely grateful for all of your support, and we have seen how much effort many of you have put in to share it with your peers, and it truly means so much. There is no doubt in my mind that we will succeed!

On another note, There have been a lot of questions regarding exactly how the physical add-ons work. So instead of simply just including a new section in the FAQ, I thought I would address things here first. When someone makes a pledge at the tier that physical items become available (currently the $70 tier), it will open up the option to customize the physical items you want through add-ons. For example, you could pledge at the $70 tier, and then add on the physical art-book separately, getting an item from the more expensive $210 tier at a cheaper price, but skipping all of the physical items you would get additionally from the full tier (plush, kickstarter exclusive physical copy, acrylic figures, etc.).

However, for those that have wondered why the physical item add-ons aren't available for lower digital tiers, it is due for multiple reasons. The most significant one is that we have had to agree to the price points listed with the organizations that we have partnered with, that are making and distributing the physical items. These physical tiers havie some of the shipping costs baked in to the tier itself, so that shipping costs are much more bearable for those that are pledging. This makes it cheaper for you, but also less flexible in how the tiers are, and can be, constructed.

I know this is disappointing to some, but its a complex process with a lot of moving parts, and we hope that you can at least understand where we are coming from. Thank you for staying with us this whole journey. We want to make this the greatest experience we can for all of you!

Dew Plush prototype completed!
10 months ago โ€“ Sun, Dec 10, 2023 at 06:45:39 PM

Look at what was delivered to us in the mail today! The completed physical prototype for the Dew plush! The fine folks at Makeship worked hard to get this out so quickly, so go give them some support as well! Please keep in mind that this is a prototype, so there might still be some adjustments and polish done on the final product! (Apologies for the rough photo as well, my phone camera is not the best!). Anyways, check it out!

In other news, we have reached just around the 60% mark for our Kickstarter! Our second week concludes on Wednesday, so it would be great to try to reach for 70% around then! To do this though, we need everyone's assistance to keep on sharing wherever possible! If you know of any communities, friends, or family members that would really like a passionate metroidvania to experience, please share the trailer or a link to the Kickstarter page!

Furthermore, if you know of any content creator that would love a game like this, or just have any general advice or information that you can provide on how to get better reach, feel free to send us a DM on Twitter! Thank you so much for the continued support! I'm confident we will get to the finish line!

First Week Complete!
11 months ago โ€“ Tue, Dec 05, 2023 at 08:22:25 AM

ย So, in a few hours, we will have concluded our first week of the Kickstarter! We are just under the 50% mark right now, and still actively looking for ways to reach out to the community. We sent out a press release yesterday to a bunch of gaming news sites/channels, so you should start seeing more articles and videos coming out soon showcasing our project and the Kickstarter! (I think IGN might have just released our trailer on one of their channels!). We are optimistic that this will help boost our numbers, but I want to also speak plainly for a moment:

Being at around the the 50% mark after the first week is not the most ideal situation. With that said, it isn't an emergency scenario either. A "healthy" Kickstarter is generally at around 60%+ after their first week, but being at 50% is still perfectly viable. It just means we need be more pro-active and thoughtful in our marketing efforts. We have tried to reach out on most major social media platforms in the community circles that we could find, but we could always use some help from you guys on this!

  • If you know of any community that has been missed, and that we can reach out to, whether that's on reddit, facebook, twitter, discord, etc., please let us know in a comment below or in a DM on discord/twitter!ย

Outside of that, I have spoken to some of you on discord, and have heard the stories of many of you sharing to your own peer groups, and I can't express my appreciation enough! The amount of support you have shown is super motivating! If we keep this same energy going forward, I have no doubt in my mind that we will reach the funding goal.

One last note to help calm the nerves. While we are only around 50% funded, we have around 800 people that have clicked the "Remind Me Later" button the Kickstarter page. This is a pretty huge number! This means that an email will be sent out 48 hours before the campaign ends reminding them to pledge. This could be a massive surge for us right at the end, so never give up hope! Our next update is going to be a fun one, so look out for that too! Take care!

1/3 of the way to full funding!
11 months ago โ€“ Fri, Dec 01, 2023 at 10:46:21 AM

Greetings!

We are over a third of the way towards being fully funded in this project! We are more grateful than ever at all of the kind words and support everyone has shown us. It motivates us to make this the best game we are capable of making. However, the work is not done!

We have just secured a partnership with a PR firm that has worked with a number of successful indies before, and starting in the next few days, they will be helping us get coverage in many of the circles that we have failed to reach through just our grassroots efforts alone. We have also been collaborating with other devs and content creators to aid in shouting out our project to their audiences.

We firmly believe that we will reach our goal in the end, but we could always use some extra assistance! If you haven't liked/retweeted our announcement post on twitter, we would really appreciate if you were willing to do so. Furthermore, if you haven't joined our discord, we would love to have you! We are constantly updating on the current status of the game on there, and just like kicking back and hanging out as well!

Finally, I want to touch on something that I feel I perhaps did not do the best of outlining in the actual Kickstarter page. Right now, the only guaranteed physical release is on the Nintendo Switch. While we would like to release on both the Playstation and the Xbox,we have not been able to secure an agreement with the proper third-party yet to make that possible. However, we are actively pursuing it, so its not out of the question just yet! I should have put this information in more places than just the FAQ tab. During this weekend, I will add an update to the main Kickstarter page that clarifies that information, as well as updating other parts of that page as well, so keep an eye out!

We also want to help shout-out one of the other Kickstarter projects we discovered that we think deserves more love! It's called Vapor World: Over The Mind, and it has an amazing atmosphere and has some very cool-looking combat that is inspired by games like Sekiro and Bloodborne. You should totally check it out!

Over 20% Funded in 18 hours!
11 months ago โ€“ Wed, Nov 29, 2023 at 05:47:19 AM

Dewborne Dawn launched approximately 18 hours ago, and through your support, we have managed to hit 20% of our $50,000 goal already!

The first 48 hours are often considered the most crucial to a Kickstarter's success. Momentum is everything to a Kickstarter. Having a good first 48 hours tells the Kickstarter team that the campaign is worth the attention. This can mean things like additional promotions, like the "Project we Love" badge, as well as recommendations. It can also make journalists much less wary of writing about your campaign. I have some other awesome stretch goals to show, but that requires us to meet our initial goal first!

I need your help more than ever, to make sure we have this momentum!

  • Share the announcement and trailer to friends and on other social media outlets.
  • Ask any questions or leave a thought in the Kickstarter Comments section.
  • Join our discord!
  • Share the trailer to any content creators you know in the indie-game space.

I really appreciate all of the support and love that you guys have shown, in helping us to get this far. Any additional help in sharing our project, no matter how small, is appreciated in ways that is hard to express in just this paragraph.

Keep being awesome!

~ Kurtis Thompson (Director)
